Middleton Community Group

Middleton Community Group is made up of local residents who care about where we live. The group meets at The Tennant's Hall (Middleton Enterprise Centre) Acre Close. on the 2nd Saturday each month (Except August) at 10 am. Why not come along and have a free cuppa, meet other residents, express your views on YOUR community. Representatives of the Police, Aire Valley Homes and your Local Councillors are usually in attendance.

We now have a new forum where you can talk about all things Middleton. You can find it here.

Middleton Life

A Health for All project.

February-June 2012
Health for All, a registered charity established & working in south Leeds since
1996, has been awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund which will give
Middleton residents a voice and empower them to tell the history of the area and
people’s life stories.
A group of Middleton residents will get the opportunity to become local history
reporters and investigate the past of their south Leeds community. The project
will engage people in exploring the history of Middleton, focussing on family
life, working conditions and the significant changes in health and medical care
at a number of key points in history.
The community-based reporters will post their findings on a local blog and also
help produce a community magazine. They’ll also put together permanent
exhibition panels celebrating Middleton’s history at the new £1.6 million
Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre, which was opened by Health for All in Middleton
last November.

Local people can get involved in different ways:
• By signing up to our regular project workshops at Tenants Hall to find out how
to research local history
• By telling us your stories of work, family life and health in past and present
Middleton, and being filmed as part of our oral history project
• By writing articles and photos about Middleton History which can be included
on the project the web site or in the community magazine
• By digging out your old photos and memorabilia (which we will copy and return)
for use in our Middleton Life archive and exhibition.
• By coming to see the final exhibition panels and film launch at our
celebration event in early summer.
